Boys and Girls Club Music Program, Broward County FL
Hundreds of kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County will now benefit from a first rate musical education and will get opportunities to perform within our community. Young participants are prepared to perform for local charitable venues such as hospitals, nursing homes and hospices around South Florida, bringing smiles and music to cheer up the people of our community.
The program meets weekly and teaches our kids basic music theory, sight singing, score reading and gives fun assignments before each lesson. Kids have the opportunity to participate as a vocal group on stage with professional musicians and famous orchestras such as the Symphony of the Americas!
Mrs. Salani, who volunteered to run this program, is a world renowned concert pianist, who came from Italy to the USA and is sponsored by the Symphony of the Americas, in Fort Lauderdale. Moreover she is a member of MUSICFOR, a Swiss music project that has brought music teaching to very poor kids in many countries making them learn and perform concerts around the world. This year, MUSICFOR has taken thousands of kids off the street around the world and taught them music.
Thanks to Barbara’s association with the Symphony of the Americas, symphony members will attend workshops at the Boys and Girls Club, inspiring young kids to learn about the various instruments and a wide range of music styles.
Jack Seiler, the Mayor of Ft Lauderdale, who also is on the board of the Boys and Girl’s club, said that “this extraordinary program created by Barbara Salani is a blessing to our community and provides top quality music education to our kids in a way that they would have never been able to achieve without Barbara’s creative and unique program”.
“We are thankful to have Mrs. Salani volunteer as founder of this program at B&GC due to the high caliber education she is offering and the opportunities that she is making available by bringing joy to the kids, their parents, their peers and the community as a whole” said Matt Organ, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County. We look forward to enhancing our community’s access to musical education and opportunities for musical events that it creates. Look for the BGC kids performing at your nearest hospital, school or nursing home this holiday season!
