The simple plastic solar filters can help reduce the intensity of sun’s light by a factor of about 100,000 or more to be safer for human eyes.These filters pass only a little light, so you cannot see anything other than the bright disk of the sun through it. During the brief phase of totality of eclipse while the moon covers the sun fully, you may have to remove the filters to witness the action. After a couple of minutes, when the sun pokes out like a diamond ring, immediately look away and put the eclipse glass back on to continue viewing.

Pinhole projection

There is another simple and fully risk-free method for viewing the progress of solar eclipse is the use of a pinhole camera. It can be easily made with a piece of thick cardboard through which you have to poke a little hold and hold it up to the sun. You can see a fine projection of the sun’s image on the ground behind or against a wall. The farther you cast the image, the larger it will be. You can look at this image during the time of eclipse to see the exact replica of the live action there.
